1885 Grill Review

1885 Grill on Cherokee Street in Acworth, opened in November, 2020. Due to a busy season of taking care of a family member, my husband and I were not able to try it out until early May this year for our anniversary.

Man, we were missing out!

We opted for an early dinner to avoid a wait time, arriving at about 5:45 p.m. even though it was only Thursday. By the time we were leaving an hour or so later, the place was filling up fast! We started with a cocktail, he had the 1885 Rita and I chose the Georgia Pecan Old Fashioned. My old fashioned had a stout pour, and my husband’s margarita was awesome! 1885 Grill has a great drink menu that changes based on the season. There are several cocktails I would like to try on a future visit.

We each had an entree, I ordered the NC Rainbow trout, which I order anytime I see it offered on a menu because it is so hard to find fresh trout. It was excellent!

Hubby had the fried shrimp and his was wonderful as well. I can’t remember what our sides were that evening, but I know that we both cleaned our plates!

The owners describe 1885 Grill as a chef-driven restaurant that uses only the highest quality ingredients and works with local vendors to offer farm fresh produce and craft beers, along with other local products.

Even after a great first experience, I wanted to give it a second try before fully endorsing it, so some friends and I went for dinner this past Tuesday evening.

Cocktails at 1885 Grill

From left to right: the “Sweet Caroline” the “Mandi Pandi”, and the “1885 Rita”.

I tried a different entree this time, even though I was tempted to have the trout again, I had the blackened chicken pasta. It was perfectly seasoned and a very generous portion - I had to get a to go box. My friends loved their entrees as well. I’m bummed that we forgot to take photos of our food, and not one pic of us all together, but sometimes that happens when the conversation is flowing!

Two trips to 1885 Grill and I’ve been impressed both times. I think I have a new favorite restaurant, and I love that it is in my home town. How about you, have you been to 1885 Grill? What should I try the next time I visit?
