Cartersville Farmer’s Market

If you are in NW Georgia and are looking for a good way to spend a Saturday morning, be sure to check out the Cartersville Farmer’s Market!

Cartersville Farmer’s Market - Saturday, June 1st, 2024.

We visited for the first time last year, and 2023 turned out to be a banner year for the market. Beginning in May and ending in September, Cartersville Farmer’s Market ended their 2023 season with a Best of Georgia Award.

There are a ton of vendors, some are there every weekend, and some are considered “part time” vendors. The market does a good job of having enough vendors in each category without having too many. Click here to see their 2024 Vendor List.

The vendor categories are:

  • Local Farmers and Growers

  • Baked Goods

  • Artisan Food

  • Meat, Seafood & Eggs

  • Natural Bath & Body Products

  • Market Eats and Drinks

You could conceivably plan all three meals for the day and stock up for the week during your trip to the Farmer’s Market. Go first thing in the morning, grab a coffee and breakfast from one of the vendors, then browse the market, buying all the things you will need for your lunch, dinner, and the week ahead.

First, select fresh meat or seafood (yes, fresh seafood is sold by a vendor from Brunswick, Georgia!) for your dinner entree, then continue to walk around and purchase fresh produce for a couple of yummy sides. Grab some staples such as lettuce, broccoli, jelly or jam and some sourdough bread for the week ahead, and if you are a dessert lover, you can also purchase a treat for dessert.

Market hours are 8:00 a.m. to noon. Expect the market to be packed - we usually arrive around 10 a.m. and we find it to be pretty busy at that time, but it does start to thin out around 11:30 a.m.

On our trip, we grabbed some romaine lettuce and broccoli from Edengate Farms, a Key Lime Pie pound cake loaf from Lynn’s Southern Sweets (this pound cake is AMAZING!) and some local honey from Dazzle Mountain Aviary.

Cartersville Farmer’s Market is pet friendly, and lots of folks bring their dogs, big and small. If you are a dog lover like me, it will feel like a little slice of heaven!

The market area is easy to find, located at 10 North Publix Square in downtown Cartersville, right next to the railroad tracks. Definitely do not miss the opportunity to check out all the great businesses around Main Street and under the bridge.

I recommend you visit Agan’s Bakery, on 141 West Main Street. Agan’s has been a Cartersville staple since 1961. Using the same recipes today that the bakery was founded on, every recipe is made from scratch. We love the doughnuts and the cinnamon rolls, but this bakery is a wonderful place to order a special occasion or birthday cake, petit fours for a baby shower, or cupcakes for a special event.

Next, you really have to take a walk by Young Brother’s Pharmacy, which recently closed in February, 2024 after 130 years in business. It is most famous for the Coca-Cola sign on the side of the building, the world’s first Coca-Cola sign painted in 1894 and restored and authenticated in 1994. Be sure to stop and take a selfie here at 2 West Main Street. At the time of this writing, the front windows had a lovely display honoring the history of the building and longstanding business.

I always enjoy stopping in to Rock N Shop at 21 North Wall Street. This is a really cool store featuring vintage vinyl records and memorabilia. Those of you who are old enough to remember the greatest classic rock radio station of all time will appreciate that they carry 96 Rock License Plates. (I really gotta get one of those!)

In summary, downtown Cartersville and Cartersville Farmer’s Market is a great way to spend a Saturday morning. Whether you are just stopping in to grab a few things for dinner, or making a morning of it, you’ll be glad we went to the Market!
