Must have summer fashion: White eyelet

There are some fashion pieces that fall easily into the “classics” category. I think if you live in the south, white eyelet cotton is one of those classics. I can remember my grandmother sewing me a lilac eyelet ruffled skirt one summer when I was 8 or 9 years old. I wasn’t much of a girly girl at that age, but I loved that skirt! Eyelet is so lightweight and delicately pretty like lace without the scratchiness and formality. Of course eyelet comes in many colors, but I love white eyelet in the same way that I love white linen in the summer. So light, breezy and cool!

Another plus of white eyelet? It is easy to launder at home and does not require dry-cleaning. If you don’t grab it out of the dryer right away, you may need to lightly iron, especially if the piece you own has pleats or ruffles. If you aren’t one to iron, you can take to the dry cleaner if you prefer. It’s an easy care fabric!

If you would like to add some white eyelet to your summer look, I have a few links for you. I am also showing you a photo of my favorite summer white eyelet dress. It is a few years old from LOFT, but I’ll link to something similar. Also, I know not everyone loves a dress, so I’ll link to a blouse as well.

PRO TIP: Make sure to wear your nude underwear and check in the mirror to see if you need a slip or a camisole underneath! Because eyelet is so lightweight, some pieces can be too sheer.
