My Six-Step Morning Skincare Routine - **GIVEAWAY**

Over the past several years, I have developed an easy, six step morning skincare routine.  I never want to over complicate things, but I also don’t want to miss any crucial steps in the process.  These steps, done every morning have greatly improved my skin, and my skin feels prepped for makeup if I am wearing it that day.

Most days I do not wear make-up now that I mostly work from home, but I use the same skincare regardless. These steps, combined with my evening routine (that is a post for another day!) help me feel that I am doing all that I can to care for my skin as I get older.

I do have aspects of my skin that I don’t like.  Once you reach age 50, I think most women do.  I have some wrinkling around my eyes and mouth, which is to be expected. I have some age spots that I know are from sun exposure, but apart from getting expensive laser treatments, those will never fully go away.

I have noted that my skin is much lighter in the winter when I am outside less. I am religious in my application of facial sunscreen, in fact I use it whether I am going outside or not. This summer, however, I have been outside much more than usual as a first-year flower farmer. I know that I should move to a product with a higher spf, and I have a couple of items in mind that I am deciding between.

I have a goal to do at home facials every week, and I try to get a spa facial at least once a year.  For at home facials, I alternate between gentle microdermabrasion and products with acids for skin cell turnover. I try to do facials on a day that I am not going to wear makeup.

I am big believer that skincare does not have to be expensive to be effective.  I use a mix of products, and have recently fell head over heels for Naturium products. Naturium was founded by a beauty journalist Nothing is over $35 and products can be found on Amazon, Target, Ulta Beauty and the Naturium website. If you sign up for emails on their website, you will be notified of new products, sales, and you will receive discount offers.

You could say that I am obsessed with skincare – I read everything I can find, and follow several gurus on social media, as I am sure that you do as well.  Here are a few of my favorites:

@thebudgetdermatologist - A female dermatologist who mostly uses drugstore skincare. She is a wealth of knowledge!

@danielsugaimd - A male dermatologist who recommends products to followers who ask specific questions about skincare.

A couple of regular" people who are also skin enthusiasts that I follow:

@jamiebgolden – a podcaster that is obsessed with skincare and tries lots of products – Jamie is an absolute delight! I especially enjoy Laura Tremaine’s 10 things to tell you Podcast episodes with Jamie as special guest, in which they talk about skincare.

Jamie has an online collection of favorite things, including her skincare favorites – there is a printable that you may find very useful. I especially like the way she explains the science behind products in layman’s terms!  Jamie B. Golden’s Stay Golden Sign Up.

@Emily.m.holland – hair and makeup artist that sometimes talks about skincare and has great tips

@trinnywoodall – CEO of @trinnylondon, skincare brand. If someone is again well, I tend to pay attention to their preferences. Trinny is 60 and aging very well.

@SusanYara is the founder of skincare brand Naturium. She was a beauty journalist turned You Tube beauty expert. It is expected to generate $90 million this year.  She tries a lot of trending products and gives honest reviews. I always enjoy her posts.

@drewbarrymore is a celebrity we all know and love. She discusses skincare on the regular. Let’s face it, most of the top female celebrities have their own skincare or cosmetics line. Drew has a beauty line called Flower Beauty, which is mostly cosmetics, (LOVE!) but she does have a few skincare items as well.  I love seeing her finds and recommendations, as she tries and recommends things at all price points, not just luxury skincare.

I couldn’t be more excited to share this giveaway with you – my six-step morning skincare routine.

Step #1). Cerave Hydrating Facial Cleanser for normal to dry skin - $12.39. (Disclosure: I use the foaming facial cleanser.)

Step #2). Mario Bedescu Facial Spray With Aloe, Cucumber and Green Tea - $14.00.

I learned that you shouldn’t apply Hyaluronic Acid to dry skin, it needs water in order to be absorbed into the skin. Rather than just use plain water, I prefer this spray that has a very light mist and is so refreshing, especially in the morning.

Step # 3). Naturium Quaduple Hyaluronic Acid Serum 5% - $16.99

One thing I love about Naturium products is the packaging. Most of the products have a pump that dispenses the appropriate amount for application. This is true of the Hyaluronic Acid, the Vitamin C and the Retinol (a product for evening application) as well.

Hyaluronic Acid plumps the skin, helps with elasticity and suppleness. It reduces wrinkles and lines and helps repair damaged skin.

I prefer to use HA in the morning because it plumps my skin.

Step # 4). Naturium Vitamin C Complex Serum - $20.99

Vitamin C has been proven to help reduce dark spots by increasing the production of cells that fight melanin. It also reduces puffiness and redness by soothing the skin. It also reduces the risk of inflammation and scarring.

Step # 5). The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% EGCG eye serum - $9.20/Pack of 2 is $18.40.

I LOVE this serum for my under eye area. It feels so nice and cool, reduces any morning puffiness and dries quickly, while still keeping the delicate skin hydrated.

NOTE: For some reason, as of the time of publishing this blog post, Amazon does not have single containers of this serum, they only have a double pack. It is still a great price and is shelf stable, so you’ll have one hand for later! Only one is included in the giveaway.

Step # 6). Loreal Revitalift Anti-Wrinkle + Firming moisturizer with spf 25 - $14.01

This moisturizer is so good! Last year, we arrived for a beach vacation in the late afternoon/early evening. I had applied this moisturizer that morning, but had on no makeup. We dropped our bags at our VRBO and made our way to the beach “for a few minutes”. There was a nice breeze off the ocean, the sun was not overhead, so we stayed a little longer than we planned on, with no umbrella, not hat, or cover of any kind except my tank top and shorts. When we arrived back at the room, I could see that I had a little sunburn on my shoulders, arms, back and neck, but my face was fine. I was so relieved! Now I wear this everyday, even if I am not leaving the house.

Bonus: the formula feels so good. It is the perfect thickness, stays on your skin, doesn’t get fully absorbed, yet make-up goes on easily over this. I just love it!

BONUS: Set of wrist towels for washing your face – you will wonder why you didn’t try these sooner! These keep water from running down your arms while you apply cleanser and wash off your face.
