I wanted to start out the week by sharing a recent favorite find. This may be an odd thing to write about, but I am totally sold out on Downy light ocean mist in-wash scent booster.
I must be careful about which laundry products I use. When my son, Gabe was elementary school age, we had a phase in which he was getting a rash all over his skin. We were able to determine that it wasn’t heat rash, new clothes or a particular fabric such as sheets, etc. After ruling out everything we could, I thought it could be the laundry detergent I was using. At the time, I was using an inexpensive liquid detergent, so I switched to an allergen free laundry pod and that seemed to do the trick. While those pods smell clean, and they work well, they are not very fragrant, so I doubled down on fabric softener, which I love the smell of. Then I started noticing my workout leggings and some other clothing was starting to collect little balls of fabric clinging to them, and I read that fabric softener is bad for workout clothes. Around that same time, I noticed that my towels were less absorbent, and learned that fabric softener does that to towels. So, I stopped using liquid fabric softener altogether, and just used dryer sheets, but I missed the awesome smell, especially for sheets, comforters, quilts, etc. There is nothing like climbing in bed at night into clean sheets that smell heavenly!
Once I tried scent boosters, I was hooked! I started with a lavender scent and really enjoyed that - I forget what brand I tried. On a whim I tried the Downy light Ocean Mist in-wash scent boosters and I haven’t looked back – the smell is amazing. It is not at all overpowering, but I can smell it from a distance. I use the scent boosters with everything now, but I use a little more in loads of towels, bedding, pajamas, bathrobes, etc. It really smells like a luxury scent - subtle but you definitely notice the great smell. It is light and fresh, not a floral smell, but just a smell of fresh air. Downy light scent boosters have no heavy perfumes, no dyes, and no phosphates. You just toss a capful into your washing machine when you start a load of laundry. You can use more or less, according to your preference.
PRO TIP: One of my favorite ways to use Downy light in-wash scent boosters is to use a full capful when I wash our sofa and love seat slipcovers. I usually wash these at least once every quarter, unless we have an unfortunate spill of some kind. It’s really awesome to sit down and have this fresh scent all around you. Especially when just yesterday, your sofa smelled like your dog who has been living her best life outside in the sun all summer, then coming in for long naps on the sofa!
There are other scents available in the Downy light scent boosters line up, but I am telling you, this one is SO GOOD! Take a sniff next time you see it in the store and let me know what you think. Or, give it try here by using my Amazon link: Downy light scent boosters Ocean Mist
